The graphical analysis page

The Graphical analysis tab in Risk management holds graphs: named sets of bar charts built from risk analyses. The tab opens on the Graph index; opening or creating a graph shows the graph page with its charts. This page describes every control in the order it appears, including the dialogs each chart opens. For the task, see Build a graphical analysis.

What you do Right needed on Risk management
See the tab, open a graph Read
Save a new graph (first Save graph) Create
Save changes to an existing graph Edit
Delete a graph Create

Create New and the delete x are shown also to users without these rights. Saving and deleting need the rights in the table; without them the save or deletion is not carried out, and no message tells you so. Your user administrator grants the rights. Locked and Hidden can be changed only by the graph’s owner, the user shown as Creator.

Control What it does
Graph index Heading. The list shows your own graphs and other users’ graphs that are not Hidden, oldest first. Click a row to open the graph.
Create New Opens an empty graph page with you as owner, not locked, not hidden and with no charts. Nothing is stored until you click Save graph.
Graph name The graph’s name.
Creator The graph owner’s name.
Locked Whether the owner has locked the graph.
Delete An x that deletes the graph. Shown when the graph is not locked, or when you own it. A confirmation, Delete Graph (“Do you really want to delete graph?”), asks you to confirm or Cancel. Deleting a graph needs the Create right.

The controls at the top of a graph, in order:

Control What it does Default Hidden or disabled
Name field (“Type analysis name”) The graph’s name. Required for saving. Empty on a new graph —
Save graph Stores the name, Locked, Hidden and every chart with its settings, filters, sort and custom title. The first save creates the graph (Create right); later saves update it (Edit right). — Disabled while the name is empty, and for other users when the graph is Locked.
Locked (tooltip “Set analyse as locked”) Stops other users from saving the graph and removes their delete x. Ticking it also ticks Hidden; unticking it also unticks Hidden. Off Can be changed only by the owner.
Hidden (tooltip “Set analyse as hidden”) Leaves the graph out of other users’ Graph index. Off Can be changed only by the owner, and only while Locked is ticked.
Add new Chart Opens Select Risk analysis for a new chart. — —
Index Returns to the Graph index. Unsaved changes are dropped without a warning. — —

Charts are shown two per row. A chart with Single line, or a last chart without a partner, takes the full width. Leaving the Graphical analysis tab also drops unsaved changes.

Each chart has these controls in its header, in order:

Control What it does
Cog (Chart Settings) Opens the chart settings dialog.
Filter icon and chart title The title is the custom title if one is set, otherwise the titles of the selected analyses joined with “ - “. If no title can be shown, it reads “No Risk Selected”. Click to open Select Risk analysis and change the analyses (Update Chart).
Pencil (Custom Title) Opens the custom title dialog.
Filter tags One tag per active filter; click a tag to remove that filter. The sort tag moves to the next sort step when clicked.
+ Filters Opens the chart filters dialog. Highlighted when a filter or sort is active.
x Removes the chart at once, without a confirmation. The removal is stored when you save the graph.

Opened by Add new Chart, or by clicking a chart’s title.

Control What it does
Search Narrows the visible list by analysis title as you type.
Field links One link for Facilitator and one for each global field used as a column on the risk index. Click a link and choose one value; the list then shows the analyses that match every value chosen. Reset each time the dialog opens.
Select all Selects every analysis that matches the chosen field values. Ignores the Search text.
Deselect all Clears the selection.
List All the company’s risk analyses, filtered as above. Click an analysis to select or deselect it; selected analyses are highlighted. An analysis without a title is shown as “No name chosen in area field”.
Close Closes the dialog without changing the chart.
Add Chart / Update Chart Creates the chart, or updates the chart you opened the dialog from. Disabled until at least one analysis is selected.

A new chart starts with Bar, Show Risk, no residual risk, no Sum, no sort, no filters, no Single line, no custom title, and counting by risk area in Count top 10 risk items across analyses. If more than one analysis is selected while Show Items is chosen, the chart switches to Show Risk.

Opened by + Filters. Each filter applies to that chart only, and the chart is redrawn at once.

Filter Input Keeps
Area Text (“Enter name of risk area”); press Enter or click Add Filter Risk elements whose risk area contains the text, ignoring case.
Risk factor Text Risk elements whose risk factor contains the text.
Status A list of the risk-element statuses, including Open, Actions in progress and Actions completed (“Select status”) Risk elements with that status.
Color A list of colour names in English: yellow, red, orange, green, lightazure, azure, darkazure (“Select Color”). lightazure, azure and darkazure are the matrix palette’s light blue, azure and dark azure. Only that colour; other colours are left out.
Sort Click to move from no sorting to ascending, descending and back Bars ordered by their original-risk total. Residual risk does not affect the order.
Button What it does
Add Filter / Update filter Applies the filter, or changes an active one. Disabled while the input is empty.
Remove Filter Removes the filter. Shown when the filter is active.
Close Closes the dialog.

Count top 10 risk items across analyses ignores the area, risk-factor and status filters.

Opened by the cog. Changes redraw the chart at once and are stored by Save graph.

Control Values Default Shown
Chart types Bar (vertical bars) or the button for horizontal bars Bar Always
Options Show Risk, Show Items, Aggregated data, Count top 10 risk items across analyses Show Risk Always
Residual-risk checkbox Adds bars for residual risk Off Not with Count top 10 risk items across analyses
Sum Adds probability × consequence instead of counting Off Not with Count top 10 risk items across analyses
Risk area / Risk factor (radio buttons) Counts by risk area or by risk factor Risk area Only with Count top 10 risk items across analyses
Single line The chart takes the full width. Horizontal bar charts with more than 14 bars also grow taller. Off Always
Close Closes the dialog. — Always

The bars are stacked by colour, with the legend under the chart. A risk element’s colour for one matrix risk type is the matrix colour at its probability × consequence. A risk element counts only on the risk types where both probability and consequence are set.

Option Bars
Show Risk One bar per selected analysis, labelled with its title. Each risk element adds 1 per assessed matrix risk type to the matching colour. With residual risk, a second bar per analysis, “(residual risk)”, counts the residual values.
Show Items One bar per risk element of the selected analysis (Show Items works with one analysis only), labelled with its risk area, counted the same way.
Aggregated data One bar, “Aggregated Data”, totalling all selected analyses; with residual risk also “Aggregated Data (Residual Risk)”.
Count top 10 risk items across analyses The ten most frequent risk areas (or risk factors) among the risk elements of the selected analyses. Each bar is the number of risk elements with that value; an empty value forms its own bar. This option does not use the Top 10 flag on risk elements.

With Sum ticked, each risk element adds probability × consequence for each assessed matrix risk type instead of 1.

Click a colour in the legend to include or exclude it from the chart.

Opened by the pencil. A text field that changes the chart’s heading as you type. Clear it to show the analysis titles again. Close closes the dialog. The title is stored by Save graph.

Option Result
Show Items Opens the risk element in its analysis, in a new tab.
Other options Opens Risk items, a list of the risk elements behind the clicked colour segment, 10 per page. It shows the risk area, and depending on the option the risk factor, the analysis and the Total (count or sum) for that colour. Click a row to open the risk element. Close closes the list.
