Copy or delete a risk analysis

On Risk management > Index, the copy icon on an analysis’s row makes a new analysis with the same information and risk elements under a new name. The copy’s risk scores are emptied, unless you keep the same matrix and choose to use the residual risk as the new original risk. The red trash icon deletes an analysis together with all its risk elements; deleting an analysis needs the Create right.

  • Risk management appears in the left menu only if your company has the module and you have at least the Read right on its row. If you don’t see it, contact your user administrator. See The top bar and the left menu.
  • Both icons are on the index in view mode. If the index is in edit mode (the button in the toolbar then reads View mode), click that button to return to view mode.
  • To copy, use the copy icon, which is shown on every row to everyone who can open the index.
  • To delete an analysis, you need the Create right on the Risk management row. Your user administrator grants it; see Give a user access rights. The trash icon is shown only to users with the Admin level on the Super area row, the analysis’s facilitator and the user who created the analysis.
  • Deleting cannot be undone, and it also deletes the actions in Action Manager that are linked to the analysis’s risk elements. Export the analysis first if you need a record of it.
  1. On Index, find the analysis and click the copy icon on its row.
  2. In the dialog, which shows the analysis title, enter a name for the copy. The name is required; the copy button stays disabled until you have entered one.
  3. Choose the matrix for the copy. The analysis’s current matrix is selected by default.
  4. Decide what happens to the risk scores:
    • If you keep the same matrix, a checkbox lets you use the residual risk as the new original risk. Tick it to start the copy from the residual risk of the original analysis.
    • If you choose another matrix, the checkbox is not offered, and a notice explains: “Rest risk can only be set as new risk if you use the same matrix.”
  5. Click the copy button at the bottom of the dialog. The new analysis opens.
  1. On Index, find the analysis and click the red trash icon on its row.
  2. Read the confirmation dialog Delete risk management analysis. It names the analysis and warns that all its risk elements will be deleted.
  3. Confirm to delete, or cancel to keep the analysis.
  • After copying, the new analysis has the original’s analysis information and global-field values, the matrix you chose, and a copy of every risk element. Every copied risk element has the status Open.
    • Without the checkbox, or with another matrix, the original and residual risk of every copied risk element are empty.
    • With the checkbox, each copied risk element’s original risk is the residual risk of the element it was copied from, and its residual risk is empty.
    • Your expanded and collapsed column sections are copied from the original analysis.
  • After deleting, the index reloads and the analysis is gone, together with its risk elements and its global-field values. Actions in Action Manager that were linked to its risk elements are deleted too.
  • Not copied. Actions and attachments linked to risk elements are not copied. Link them again on the copy if needed.
  • Moving to another matrix. An analysis’s matrix cannot be changed after the analysis is saved. To use another matrix, copy the analysis and choose the other matrix in the copy dialog.
  • Scores to reassess. On a copy with empty scores, assess the risk elements again. See Assess original and residual risk.
  • Deleting needs the Create right. The trash icon is shown to the analysis’s facilitator and creator, but deleting an analysis needs the Create right; without it the analysis is not deleted. Ask your user administrator for the Create right, or ask a colleague who has it.
  • Quick edits on the index. To change the title, facilitator, scope, global fields, participants or date of several analyses without opening them, use Edit mode on the index. Each field saves when you leave it; the title is required; only the columns selected in Select columns are shown; it needs the Edit right. See The risk index page.
