Find and read a risk analysis

Open Risk management, find the analysis on Index, and open it. The Risk tab shows the analysis’s risk elements, one per row. The Information tab shows the analysis’s title, scope, people, date, matrix and report. With the Read right on the Risk management row you see your company’s analyses on the index; which global fields appear depends on your company’s setup.

  • Risk management appears in the left menu only if your company has the module and you have at least the Read right on its row. If you don’t see it, contact your user administrator. See The top bar and the left menu.
  • You need the Read right on the Risk management row. Your user administrator grants it; see Give a user access rights.
  • To read an analysis, you do not need to enter Edit mode.
  1. Open Risk management in the left menu and select Index.

  2. Find the analysis in the list. Use Search to narrow the list if needed. Title, Facilitator and Scope help you identify the analysis; global fields may also appear as columns.

  3. Open the analysis. Its heading is Risk items: followed by the title.

  4. On Risk, read the rows. Under Column sections, use Expand all to show every section or Collapse all to reduce the detail. You can also expand or collapse individual sections.

  5. Read the sections in order:

    Section What to look for
Context The risk area of the element.
Risk identification Risk factor, Potential consequence, Cause and Existing barriers.
Risk analysis The original risk values for the matrix’s risk types and their Sum.
Risk treatment Actions / comments, Status, Attachment/Link and Actions.
Residual risk The residual risk values for the matrix’s risk types and their own Sum.
  6. Select Information to read the shared analysis information. The matrix details explain the risk types and the probability and consequence scales used by this analysis. See The analysis information form.

  7. Click Back to return to the index.

The risk-element table and the shared information belong to the same analysis. Each table row is one risk element; its original and residual Sum values are separate scores. See Understand original risk, residual risk and Sum before comparing them.

  • Section choices. Your expanded and collapsed sections are saved for you on that analysis. Manual selection is an indicator that appears when you change individual sections; it is not a third command to click.
  • Favourites. The star (Favourite) adds or removes a shortcut to the analysis in your favourites.
  • Export. Export exports the analysis to Excel. It is available outside table edit mode.
  • Rights build on each other. The rights on Risk management are levels: Read, Edit, Create, Approve, Manage, Archive and Admin. Each level includes the ones before it, so the Create right also gives you everything the Read and Edit rights allow. Your user administrator grants them.
  • Different matrices. The letters, risk types and scales in the table come from the matrix assigned to the analysis. They need not match those in another analysis.
