Attach files and links to a risk element
Open the analysis’s Risk tab, click Edit mode, and click the paperclip in the element’s Attachment/Link cell. In the dialog, use Upload to add a file, Link to internal document to link a document in another module, or External URLs to add a web address. You can add attachments only to saved rows. In view mode, the same paperclip opens the dialog read-only: you can open and download, but not add, change or remove.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Risk management appears in the left menu only if your company has the module and you have at least the Read right on its row. If you don’t see it, contact your user administrator. See The top bar and the left menu.
- You need the Edit right on the Risk management row to use Edit mode. Your user administrator grants it; see Give a user access rights.
- The row must be saved. On a blank row that has no text yet, the paperclip is disabled. Type in one of the row’s text fields first.
- Attachment/Link is in the Risk treatment column section. If you do not see the column, expand that section or use Expand all.
- Open the analysis and select Risk.
- Click Edit mode.
- Find the row and click the paperclip in its Attachment/Link cell. The dialog Attachments / Internal Modules / External URLs opens.
- Add what you need:
- A file: click Upload and choose the file. You add one file at a time; repeat for more files.
- A document in another module: click Link to internal document, choose the module, then choose the document.
- A web address: click External URLs. In Add / Edit External URL, enter the URL and the Text to display, then click Save. Both fields are required, and the URL must be a valid web address.
- Close the dialog when you are done.
- Click View mode to leave edit mode.
What you should see
Section titled “What you should see”The new entries are listed in the dialog. On the row, the paperclip has a red badge with the number of files and links together. Hover over the paperclip to see their names. No confirmation message appears after an upload.
In the list, a file has a download icon, an internal document link opens in a new tab, and an external URL opens in a new window or tab.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Change an external URL. In edit mode, click the pencil next to the URL in the dialog. Only external URLs have a pencil; to replace a file, remove it and upload the new one.
- Remove a file or link. In edit mode, click the × next to the entry and confirm “Please confirm that you wish to delete this file”. The message “The attachment has been removed.” confirms it. An internal document link can also be removed by clicking the same document again under Link to internal document; that removes the link without asking.
- File names. A number is added to the name of an uploaded file, just before the file extension.
- Updated at. Adding or removing files and links does not change the element’s Updated at date.
- Copies and export. Copying a risk element does not copy its files and links, and the Excel export of the analysis does not include them.
