Build competency charts (Analysis)

The Analysis tab in Competency is your own page of charts about people and their competencies. To add a chart, click Add new chart, choose a chart type, give the chart a name in English and Norwegian, choose what it should cover and confirm. Tick Store as predefined chart if you want to reuse the chart, and others can then add it to their page too. On charts you created, the chart toolbar lets you change the chart type, show only the top N, sort and filter.

  • The Analysis tab needs the Approve right (or higher) on the Competency row, set by your user administrator. With the Approve right, the tab is greyed out until a responsibility has been assigned to you; see Give managers access to people in Competency.
  • Charts count only people who are still active (end date not passed) and whom you can see in Competency: with Approve, the people within your responsibility; with Manage or higher, everyone. Two people looking at the same chart can therefore see different numbers.
  1. Open Competency and click the Analysis tab.
  2. Click Add new chart. On an empty page you can also click “There’s no chart, click here to add”.
  3. In the Add new chart dialog, under Select a chart type, click the chart type you want. The types are described in The Analysis tab and the chart dialog.
  4. Type the chart’s name in the “English” and “Norwegian” fields (up to 80 characters).
  5. Depending on the chart type, choose the capsule, the competency or the person the chart is about. For the cost charts that cover a time frame, set “Time frame:” with “From” and “To”.
  6. Tick Store as predefined chart if the chart should be saved for reuse.
  7. Click Ok to create the chart, or Cancel to close the dialog without a chart.
  1. Open Select a predefined chart. It lists My charts (the predefined charts you created) and Other charts (predefined charts created by others).
  2. Tick a chart to add it to your page. Untick it to take it off your page again.

Use the toolbar above the chart:

  1. Click the cog to change the chart type: “Bar”, “Horizontal Bar”, “Pie”, “Doughnut”, “Line” or “Polar area”.
  2. Change the number in Top to show only that many entries.
  3. Use Sort to sort by level, wanted level, number of employees or desired number of employees.
  4. Use Filters to limit which people the chart includes.
  5. Click the filter icon (it opens the chart’s settings; it does not filter) to open the chart dialog again and change the chart’s settings, then click Update.

The chart appears on your Analysis page. Click a series in the chart’s legend to hide it, and click it again to show it.

  • Only your own charts can be changed. The chart toolbar is shown only on charts you created. A predefined chart from someone else is shown as it is.
  • Remove or delete. The x on a chart removes it from your page only; the chart itself is kept, and a predefined chart can be added again from Select a predefined chart. To delete a predefined chart for good, use the x next to it in Select a predefined chart. You can always delete your own predefined charts; deleting a predefined chart that someone else created needs the Manage right (or higher).
  • Every control on the tab and in the dialog is described in The Analysis tab and the chart dialog.
