Print a document or save it as PDF
Open the document in view mode and click the printer button (Print) in the button bar. ABMS makes a PDF of the document, and your browser downloads it as a file named after the document’s title. If the document has attached images that are not used in its text, a dialog first asks which of them to include; tick the ones you want and click Produce PDF. To print on paper, open the downloaded PDF and print it from there. With Show all ticked, the PDF has all sections; otherwise only the section tab you have open.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You can print any document you can open: you need the Read right on the module’s row, set by your user administrator, or an invitation to comment on the document.
- The document must be in view mode. There is no print button in edit mode; click the floppy disk (Save and continue later) to go back to view mode.
- Open the document.
- Choose what to include. Tick Show all above the section tabs to get all sections, or click the section tab you want to get only that section. Show all is not shown while the document is at its first step.
- Click the printer button (Print) in the button bar.
- If you are printing an earlier revision that is no longer valid, ABMS asks “This is a previously published revision, are you sure you want to print it?”. Click Yes to go on, or No to stop.
- If the dialog “Choose what images do you want to print” opens, tick the images to include. Hover over a file name to see the image. Then click Produce PDF. Close stops without making a PDF.
- Wait while the PDF is made. Your browser then downloads it.
- Open the PDF from your browser’s downloads. Print it from there if you need it on paper.
What you should see
Section titled “What you should see”A PDF in A4 portrait, named after the document’s title, with:
- the document’s title at the top of every page, and your company’s logo on the first page;
- the fields of the sections you chose;
- a page listing the document’s actions if there are any, and a page with the images you selected if you selected any;
- a footer on every page with the document’s ID, status, approver, revision and page number.
Every part of the PDF is described in The print dialog and the PDF.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Which revision is printed. From the document page, you get the newest published revision if there is a newer one than the one you have open; otherwise the one you have open. To print an earlier revision, open it from Revisions in the info panel and print it from there; see Revisions and the info panel.
- Your language. Labels and the footer are in your own language setting. Fields with text in both English and Norwegian are printed in your language.
- Images in the text are always included. The image dialog lists only image attachments that are not used inside a text field. Images placed in the text are printed where they are.
- Page breaks. Page break on the text editor toolbar starts a new page in the PDF; see The text editor.
- The browser’s own print (Ctrl+P) prints the page as it looks in the browser, without the ABMS header and footer. Use the Print button when you need the document with its footer.
- People outside ABMS who fill in a form you sent them can also make a PDF of it with a Print button on the form; see Send a document to someone outside ABMS.
- The button is disabled while ABMS is in maintenance mode.
