The Risk Heat Map tab in Risk management shows one matrix as a grid per risk type, with the number of risk elements in each cell, counted across the risk analyses that use the matrix. The Risk Heat Map tab in Risk management is shown only to users with the Admin right on the Risk management row; your user administrator grants it. The map only reads the analyses; nothing you choose here changes them. This page describes every control in the order it appears. For the task, see Read the risk heat map.

Select a matrix |
Chooses the matrix. Lists the latest version of each of your company’s matrices, a matrix named “Default” first if your company has one, then by name. Choosing one loads its risk-type tabs, texts and colours and the analyses connected to it. |
The first matrix in the list is selected when you open the tab. Your choice is kept while you stay in the same browser tab. |

Both original and residual risk |
Cells show both counts. Arrows run from each original-risk cell to the cells where the same risk elements’ residual risk lies. A cell holding both counts is split diagonally. |

Risk-type tabs |

Cells |
The colours of the latest version of the matrix, with the risk type’s own colours when that tab has a different colour palette. A number shows how many risk elements lie in the cell. |

Detail |
| Unit |
For a cell on one risk-type tab, the number counts risk elements, not analyses, from the ticked analyses. |
| Position |
A risk element is counted in the column of its probability and the row of its consequence for that risk type. |
| Original or residual |
Original-risk counts use the values under Risk analysis in the analysis; residual-risk counts use the values under Residual risk. |
| Assessed only |
A risk element is counted on a tab only when both probability and consequence are set for that risk type. |
| No other filter |
All risk elements of the ticked analyses are counted, whatever their status and whether or not they are flagged Top 10. |
| Matrix version |
Every analysis is placed on the latest version’s grid, tabs and colours, also an analysis that still uses an older version. Its colours on the map can then differ from the colours in the analysis. Risk types that exist only in an older version are not shown. |

What you can do |
| An original-risk number |
The analyses that have risk elements in that cell, with the links Select all | Deselect all. |
Select all draws arrows from the cell to the residual-risk positions of those risk elements and shows their residual counts. Click an analysis to highlight the arrows for that analysis. Deselect all, or clicking the original-risk number, removes the arrows. Original risk only stays selected meanwhile. |
| A residual-risk number |
A table of the risk elements in that cell, with Risk analysis, risk area and risk factor. |
Click a row to open the analysis at that risk element in a new tab. |
Close a list with its X, or by clicking anywhere on the page.
