Diagram library: sorting, dates, paging and narrow windows

This page adds detail to The diagram library, which describes every control on the library page. Here you find what each sort option sorts on, what the Created and Updated dates mean, how searching, the counter and the pages behave, and how the library page changes in a narrow window, for example on a phone.

The sort options apply to the diagram library. Each one sorts on one value:

Sort option Sorts on Order
Newest first (default) The date the diagram was created Newest first
Oldest first The date the diagram was created Oldest first
Recently updated The date the diagram was last updated (see “Dates” below) Most recent first
Least recently updated The date the diagram was last updated Oldest first
Title A-Z The diagram’s name, regardless of upper or lower case A to Z
Title Z-A The diagram’s name, regardless of upper or lower case Z to A

Rules for sorting in the diagram library:

  • One sort setting for all views. The sort dropdown and the clickable column headings in the Table view change the same setting. Title in the Table view gives Title A-Z or Title Z-A, Created gives Newest first or Oldest first, and Updated gives Recently updated or Least recently updated. A sort you choose in the Table view is kept when you switch to another view, and the other way round.
  • Where you see the current sort. In a wide window, the sort dropdown shows the name of the sort in use; the dropdown is not shown in the Table view, where the column headings sort instead. In a narrow window, the sort button shows the name on a small tablet and only an icon on a phone. In the open list of sort options, the sort in use is ticked.
  • Back to the start. Choosing a sort, searching or clearing the search takes you back to the first page in the Table and Preview list views, and to the first 12 diagrams in the Cards and Compact cards views.
Date Where it is shown What sets it
Created Cards, Compact cards, Preview list, Table, and the preview dialog The moment the diagram was first saved with Save Diagram. For a copy made with Copy diagram, the moment the copy was saved. The date does not change afterwards.
Updated Preview list and Table The last time the diagram’s Name or Description was changed and saved. Saving a change to the drawing alone does not change this date. For a new diagram or a copy, it is the same as Created.
  • Format. Dates in the diagram library are shown as day.month.year (for example 05.03.2026) when your language is Norwegian, and as day/month/year (05/03/2026) when it is English. Only the date is shown, not the time.
  • Updated follows the name and description. Because the Updated date changes only with the name or description, the same applies to the sort options Recently updated and Least recently updated, and to a date search on the updated date.
  • The search box finds diagrams whose name or description contains the text. Spaces at the start and end of the text are ignored.
  • A date finds diagrams created or updated that day only when the whole search text is a valid date with a two-digit day, a two-digit month and a four-digit year, separated by dots or slashes: 05.03.2026 or 05/03/2026. A shorter form such as 5.3.2026 is searched for as ordinary text in the name and description.
  • A date search also finds diagrams whose name or description contains the same text.
  • The counter and the pages count only the diagrams that match the search.
View How diagrams are loaded What is kept
Cards and Compact cards The first 12 diagrams. Each click on Load more adds the next 12. Below the cards, a counter such as “Showing 12 Of 30 Diagrams” shows how many are loaded out of the total. The number of loaded diagrams is kept when you leave the library and come back in the same browser tab. Closing the tab, or opening Diagrams from the left menu, starts again with the first 12.
Table and Preview list One page at a time. Below the list, “Showing 1 to 10 of N” shows which diagrams are on the page out of the total, with « Previous, the page numbers and Next ». Buttons choose 10, 20, 50 or 100 diagrams per page; the default is 10. The buttons for the page size are shown only in a wide window. The page and the page size are kept when you leave the library and come back in the same browser tab. Closing the tab starts again on the first page with 10 per page. Opening Diagrams from the left menu starts again on the first page and keeps the page size.

If the page you were on no longer exists, for example because diagrams have been deleted, the library shows the last page instead.

The view dropdown shows the view in use. On the button itself, Compact cards is shortened to Compact and Preview list to Preview; the list that opens shows the full names.

In a narrow window, for example on a phone or a small tablet, the library page changes:

What In a narrow window
Sort and view Two small buttons with the tooltips Sort and View mode. The sort button is also shown in the Table view.
Views offered Only Cards and Table. If you chose Compact cards or Preview list in a wide window, the library shows Cards; your choice comes back when the window is wide again.
Table view Only the Title column and the action icons are shown; Description, Created and Updated are hidden. The Title heading cannot be clicked to sort; use the sort button instead.
Pages The buttons for the page size are hidden.
  • Missing thumbnail. If a diagram’s thumbnail picture is missing, the library tries to make it again from the drawing. Until that works, a grey box with the text “No Preview” is shown in place of the thumbnail.
  • Closing the preview. The preview dialog closes with Close or when you click outside it.
  • While copying. After you save a copy in the Copy diagram dialog, the copy button on the original diagram shows a spinning icon and cannot be clicked until the copy is finished.
