The analysis page, item dialogs and risk picker

The analysis page of a job safety analysis opens when you click the analysis on the index. Its heading is the area of the analysis followed by “jsa items”. The page lists the job steps of the analysis in a table, 10 per page, in the analysis’s own order. From here you open the dialogs for adding and changing job steps and the risk picker for scoring them. This page describes the wide desktop layout.

Right on Job Safety Analysis What it allows on the analysis page
Read Open the page, read the table and open the dialogs.
Edit Also change job steps (text, status, activity, responsible, due date), set risk in the risk picker and move rows.
Create Also add job steps (New item, the green +) and delete them. Create includes Edit.

All buttons and icons are shown to everyone who can open the page; only the right listed lets the change through. Your user administrator grants the rights; see Give a user access rights.

Control What it does
Info icon (next to the heading) Opens the JSA analysis dialog with the analysis information. The dialog has no Save button; see The JSA index and the analysis dialog.
Back Returns to the index.
New item Opens the dialog for a new job step. Needs the Create right.

The columns are grouped under Risk analysis, Risk treatment and Residual risk. Clicking a row opens the dialog for changing the job step.

# Column What it shows Click
1 Job step The step of the job.
2 Risk factor What can go wrong in the step.
3–6 Risk analysis: Personal, Asset, Environment, Reputation For a job step, the risk score of each category before any activity, as a badge. Opens the risk picker for the risk analysis.
7 Status The status of the job step. The funnel icon in the heading opens the status filter.
8 Risk Reducing Activity What will be done to reduce the risk.
9 Responsible The e-mail address of the person chosen as responsible.
10 Due date The date the activity is due.
11–14 Residual risk: the same four categories For a job step, the risk score of each category after the activity. Opens the risk picker for the residual risk.
15 Move row Up and down arrows that move the row one place. The first row of a page has no up arrow and the last row of a page has no down arrow. Needs the Edit right.
16 Insert A green + that opens a dialog for a new job step, placed directly after this row. Needs the Create right.
17 Delete A red icon that opens a confirmation for deleting the job step. Needs the Create right.

The page has no search. Page numbers under the table move between pages.

The funnel icon in the Status heading opens a status filter with one checkbox per status (Open, Pending, No action, Closed, In progress). While a status filter is active, the Move row and Insert columns are hidden; reload the page to show them again.

A job step has one of five statuses: Open, Pending, No action, Closed and In progress. All five can be chosen in every status list. In a job safety analysis, the status is a record only; it does not lock fields or change anything else.

New item and the green + open the same dialog.

Control What it does Default
Job step The step of the job. Free text. Empty from New item; the row’s job step from the +.
Risk factor What can go wrong. Free text. Empty from New item; the row’s risk factor from the +.
Status One of the five statuses. Open.
Close Closes without saving.
Save Adds the job step: at the end of the analysis from New item, directly after the row from the +. Needs the Create right.

Opens when you click a row. The controls appear in this order.

Control What it does
Job step, Risk factor Free text.
Status One of the five statuses.
Risk analysis badges (Personal, Asset, Environment, Reputation, each with its score) Clicking a badge saves the dialog first and then opens the risk picker for the risk analysis. After you save or close the picker, the dialog opens again with the saved data.
Risk Reducing Activity A single line of free text.
Residual risk badges As above, for the residual risk.
Responsible A list of users with the Approve right or higher on the Job Safety Analysis row, by first and last name, sorted. Can be left blank. Choosing someone sends no notification.
Due date A date picked from the calendar.
Close Closes without saving.
Save Saves job step, risk factor, status, activity, responsible and due date. Needs the Edit right.

The confirmation names the job step in quotes. Check that it is the job step you want to delete, then click Yes; No cancels. Deleting needs the Create right. The rows after the deleted one move up in the order.

The risk picker sets the risk for one side of a job step: either the risk analysis or the residual risk, depending on which score you clicked.

Control What it does
Tabs Personal, Asset, Environment, Reputation One tab per category.
Most probable frequency of recurrence The columns: probability 1 on the left to 5 on the right. Each column is headed by the analysis’s text for that probability level.
Most probable consequence The rows: consequence 5 at the top to 1 at the bottom, each with the analysis’s text for that level.
Grid cell Click to select it: the cell gets a black border and a tick, and the category gets the column’s probability and the row’s consequence. Click the selected cell again to clear the category (score 0).
Close Closes the picker without saving.
Save Saves all four categories of this side at once. Needs the Edit right.

The texts for the levels are the help texts of the analysis; see The help-text and identification pages.

For a job step, the score of a category is consequence × probability, from 1 to 25; a category that has not been set, or has been cleared, scores 0. In a job safety analysis, there is no sum across the categories and no total for the analysis. For a job step, the risk analysis and the residual risk are independent: saving one does not change the other.

The grid cells have fixed colours:

Consequence Probability 1 2 3 4 5
5 Yellow Yellow Red Red Red
4 Green Yellow Yellow Red Red
3 Green Green Yellow Yellow Red
2 Green Green Green Yellow Yellow
1 Green Green Green Green Green

In the table and the dialog, a score of 0 is shown as a grey badge.
